Dear Small Business Supporter,

The Ashtabula Downtown Development Association (ADDA) has planned a business/retail recruitment event and we would like your help promoting it to your contacts. Your work with small businesses through training, funding, and
entrepreneurship makes you a valuable expert for our needs.

On Thursday, June 17, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., ADDA will host the “Open for Business/Available Property Showcase” tours to promote doing business in downtown Ashtabula. Select vacant buildings for lease and for sale will be open to tour. The Ashtabula County District Library will host various lenders, economic development business specialists and Ashtabula ambassadors to answer questions and discuss business plans and ideas.

Two multi-million dollar downtown residential revitalization projects are slated to begin in 2021.  These promise to bring new life to the downtown landscape. Downtown currently offers three beautiful parks (Cornelius and South Park and
Indian Trails Park), the iconic Ashtabula River runs parallel with Main Avenue and downtown Ashtabula is 1.4 miles from the Cleveland Clinic’s affiliate Ashtabula County Medical Center (ACMC).

ADDA is now focused on the holistic revitalization of the north Main Avenue corridor, south Main Avenue corridor, and the Certified Local Government (CLG) historic area located in the center Main Avenue corridor. Since the downtown area is Ashtabula’s city center, many storefronts and surrounding properties are occupied by physicians, attorneys, title agents, charter schools, and government entities such as the municipal building, municipal courts, police and fire headquarters, financial institutions, and the Ashtabula County District Library, all of which serve as major downtown anchors. We
currently have a fair amount of home furnishing, flooring businesses, two pizza restaurants, an Irish Pub restaurant, a bakery, salons/barbershop, two tattoo studios, auto sales and repair, gymnastics, martial arts, a dance studio, book store, bowling alley, photography, graphic arts and a growing number of specialty retailers.

We welcome the richness of a diverse community. Our goal is to increase opportunities in the district by recruiting new and/or expanded businesses. Businesses that may complement current downtown businesses include, but are certainly not limited to, culinary equipment and supplies, home accents, upholstery, lighting, a brewery/winery, restaurants, organic grocer, tech-focused or experience-based training venues such as pottery, robotics and yoga, as well as professional
services (e.g. accounting, tax, legal, medical etc.).

The City of Ashtabula is located on Lake Erie’s coastline about an hour between Cleveland, Ohio and Erie, Pennsylvania, and is intersected by Interstate 90 and State Route 11, which offers easy access to potential customers and visitors. City and state incentives, affordable real estate pricing, and an overall favorable business climate makes downtown Ashtabula a profitable place to do business, and a desired destination to live, work, play and learn.

Your assistance in sharing the enclosed postcards with anyone you believe will benefit from an evening of discovering all the possibilities for downtown Ashtabula would be most helpful.  We look forward to seeing you on June 17, at 4:00 p.m. to
7:00 p.m. for ADDA’s “Open for Business /Available Property Showcase”. See firsthand what downtown Ashtabula has to offer!

Very truly,

Marty Cephas
