September 24, 2016, Noon- 3:00 pm
Blue Lives Matter March
InVESTing in K-9 Officers is assisting to organize this event. The march will begin at the Ashtabula City Police Department and end at Ashtabula City Hall. It is about 5K; light refreshements will be served, there will be a blue balloon release in memory of fallen officers, and participants are asked to donate a non-perishable item for a local food pantry. Come out and show your community support for our law enforcement officers.

Ashtabula Round Table Discussion
ADDA is sponsoring a round table discussion with City Manager Jim Timonere. Individuals can ask questions and Timonere will also provide an update on what's happening in Ashtabula. Event will be held at in Council Chambers, City Hall, 4717 Main Avenue.

Ashtabula Library Grand Opening
The library dedication ceremonies will begin at 1:00pm on the West 44th Street lawn. Ashtabula High School grad, Ashtabula Library patron, author, and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Connie Schultz will speak beginning at 1:35pm.
Music will be provided by the NorthEasterly Winds Woodwind Quintet. There will be tours of the entire building, giveaways, a drawing, and refreshments. Ashtabula County District Library, 335 W 44th St, Ashtabula, OH 44004, USA. Contact 440-990-2338 for more information.

Outdoor Art Show Coming to Downtown Ashtabula!
Art in the Alley will take place in the alleys surrounding Dublin Down restaurant on Ashtabula’s Main Avenue and is free to the public. Close to 20 artists are already on board, including several younger artists. In addition to the art, there will be live music, a 50/50 Raffle drawing, and a Chinese Auction for people to bid on artwork. A video of the art show will be playing after dark on the outdoor big screen at Dublin Down. The ADDA will also be selling little plastic magnetic easels, $3 each or 2 for $5. Purchasers can glue pictures of loved ones, pets, or whatever they choose onto the easels. Support our local artists and enjoy this great new event!

Historic Steam Train Visit
Nickel Plate Road 765, a 1944 steam locomotive, will take passengers on round-trip excursions July 25-26 from Youngstown to Ashtabula as part of Norfolk Southern’s 21st Century Steam Program. The passengers will be stepping off the train in Downtown Ashtabula and will be eating a meal provided by Casa Capelli in the restaurant and South Park. St. Peter's Church will have an exhibit of historic artifacts and will be highlighting the music of Phillip Bliss and the artistry of Merv Clary.

9/11...A Day of Remembrance
September 11, 2016
Join with others in remembrance of September 11 at the Patriot Day Freedom Walk. Opening Ceremony begins at 5 pm at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd, Ashtabula. The one mile Freedom Walk then proceeds to the Ashtabula Fire Station, then Veterans Park, and back to the funeral home for refreshments. At each location clergy, city police and the American Legion will offer prayers, words or military honors. If you wish to observe the walk, you can watch from the east side of Lt. Cpl. Kevin Cornelius Park between 5:30-6:00 pm.

The Art in the Alley event was a huge success! Many people stopped downtown to see the art and visit with the artists! The weather was perfect, wonderful food was available at Dublin Down Irish Pub & Eatery, as well as at the new JT's Bagels Shop, and terrific tunes were provided by Smooth Groove! The first public art installation- 3 Whirligigs- were unveiled on Main Avenue. Great work and many thanks to the Committee for bringing this first-of-its-kind event to our area. Also, thank you so much to the local artists who showcased their artworks- we have so many talented individuals in our midst!

A great day to see the work of our many talented local artists! Food, music, fun and art, art, art!!! This is a mixed media event, including artists who create Photography, Graphite, Ink, Watercolor, Acrylics, Oils, Ceramics, Fiber art and various other 3-D work (this is not a craft show or yard sale). There will be food available from Dublin Down Irish Pub and Eatery-- including an alcohol-free family dining section. There will be live music and spectacular lighting for the evening. Join us Downtown!

One more day! The preparations continue as the ADDA prepares to host a fantastic public art event in Downtown Ashtabula! On Saturday many talented local artists will be showcasing their works in the alleys surrounding the Dublin Down block on Main Avenue. Also, there will be an unveiling of a public art installation that will offer a unique depiction of the bountiful aspects of the Ashtabula area!
We invite you to join us-- there is no admission fee!

Library Closed for Renovations

The Ashtabula County District Library will be closed from Memorial Day through July 4th to complete the final stages of their renovation. The new addition will hold many great features- looking forward to the re-opening! In the meantime, keep up with the Library's activities by clicking below.
Vision for Downtown Ashtabula!

The Ashtabula City Council voted to approve the ADDA Master Plan for Downtown Ashtabula at their meeting on Monday, March 21st. "The ADDA Master Plan builds on previous plans and studies; it's a working plan. It provides a vision of what a revitalized downtown Ashtabula could be..." Jane Haines ADDA President said.
ADDA Master Plan Approved!

At the March 2nd Membership Meeting, the ADDA presented their Downtown Ashtabula Master Plan and received public approval. It will now be presented to the City of Ashtabula for consideration. It is a great document and will help guide the development efforts of the Downtown area for the future.
Fountain Flows Again!

Thank you, Larry Fargo of Fargo Machine Co for working to get this beautiful fountain flowing again. The fountain was donated to the City of Ashtabula, by Mr. Topky and Larry is leading a group to work on restoring the fountain back to its original glory
River of Many Fish!

Ashtabula- “River of Many Fish!” Thank you Ralph Bacon, the After School Discovery kids, and Cheryl Longden for helping to beautify our downtown windowscape! These murals flowed across the building windows on Main Avenue to greet the many out-of-town visitors and spectators of the Historic Steam Locomotive visit.
